With the best of intentions
Thanks for all the enthusiasm over our adoption of Archie. He is a good dog, but unfortunately, he is not our good dog. In short, MacIntosh was going to kill him. Tosh went from bemused to irritated to outright hostile and aggressive in a week - the wrong direction (and he’s never been dog-aggressive before in his life).
In addition, the cats were not adjusting (and to be honest, Arch at four months was already big enough to do some serious damage, even if he was just being enthusiastic and playful. We couldn’t blame the felines for hiding, but we hated that they felt the need to skulk and stay out of the main living area of the house).
So Archie went back to the shelter - it’s no-kill, so he’ll be adopted. Possibly with his brother, who is still there also. I’m hoping that’s what the universe really intended for him.
We are really, really sad - but we do think it’s for the best, for our household and for Archie in the long run.
