I am a certified freak magnet too. I recently got hit on by a one-eyed latino man at the thrift store. I was perusing some books until I heard his opening gambit: a red herring question about a pair of shoes.
Question answered, I noticed him lingering in my peripheral vision. I ignored him. Then he made his way over again, and said "You are a beautiful woman." In response, I gave him a slit-eyed, grimacy sort of smile, said "thank you," turning immediately back to the books.
It doesn't take binocular vision to read body language, but he still didn't leave. Next he said "Are you married?" To which I replied "Yes." Then he said "He's a lucky man." I didn't correct him, just said "thanks." Now having ascertained by property status, he beat a retreat to the broken appliance aisle.
ONLY to come right on back, because property after all is just a concept. A concept that can obviously be dispatched by the force of physical attraction.
At this point, I was beginning to feel like I was trapped in a nature film about animal reproduction: "Watch this wild young male homosapien as he attempts to find love at the watering hole."
So I put down the books and ran for it.

I KNOW! Earbuds in, knitting obliviously are the universal "I don't want to acknowledge you" symbology. Drives me nuts when people don't get it. And really, If I yank the earbud out once, that ought to be enough to make the point. Oh, I pity the fool that makes me yank out the buds twice...but maybe weedy guy was looking for some kind of bud...

Is rather like the time I saw an elderly gent try to chat up a young gent on the train. He started by tapping him on the knee to get him to remove the earbud. So that he could say what? "You shouldn't use those, then you can't hear anything. You can't hear other people talking to you." Young gent politely refrained from suggesting that that might be the point...
